WHAT HAPPENED?
The Red Devils jetted off to Los Angeles to continue their summer preparations for the upcoming season with matches against Arsenal, Real Betis and Liverpool. However, the Premier League side left former England manager McClaren at home.

THE EXPLANATION
McClaren was not fit to make the journey across the ocean because he recently underwent surgery on his foot, which has limited his mobility, according to a report from the Instead, he has stayed in Manchester and will start working with the United players who will arrive back in training too late to join the tour.

Meanwhile, there has been a change to McClaren's position among coach Erik ten Hag's staff. Following the addition of Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake to Ten Hag's managerial team, McClaren's title has been altered from assistant manager to senior first-team coach.
